Some of the best hiking in lower Michigan. But apparently it's getting to be very popular :( You can camp anywhere so long as it's 200ft away from water and trails. Unless it's a designated campsite and most of those are right on the water. However, the Forest Service just this summer made a bunch of unofficial campsites official by putting them on the map and placing signage and are talking about a permit system.
I understand why it's popular as it's a wonderfully scenic place to hike but I liked it better when it wasn't so popular. It's a nice place to end my hiking season but not a place if you're looking for solitude.
