Nice job with the new forum!
I have a question about the regional forums: Will you be adding a Northeast Forum? It seems to be missing from the new list.
Thanks for creating a new Backpacker forum! It's much appreciated!

It works in both Firefox and Chrome with Windows 8.

Will you be adding a Northeast Forum? I sure will be now! Glad you pointed that out. Now for your amusement: what states are in the Northeast? Likewise, I stalled on the other regions. I never fully understood if KY is in the south or the midwest/ No, I'm not kidding. I almost made CA it's own region since who thinks of Mt Shasta or Yosemite as being in the Southwest? I don't! I' willing to listen to any and all corrections on the Regional lists. PS: I already added it! Sha-ZAAM!

I think Michigan should have it's own region. Everyone knows the best backpacking in the Midwest is there. Not to mention it has the #1 best vacation destination in the US (Sleeping Bear Dunes) according to Good Morning America. And was just voted "Best State in the US". :D. Oh....and the Tetons...Yeah, they need their own destination too.
Just kidding. But those are the facts.

BTW, I love being able to be Zeke, instead of Old Zeke. I may still be old, but posters do not need to include that descriptor when addressing me. I'm going to. Repeatedly. OLD zeke

It's no easy task to divide up the USA into regions, so I don't envy you the task. Everyone seems to have slightly different grouping of states. For hiking and backpacking purposes, I've always considered the Northeast to be comprised of the New England states and New York. That would mean the Northeast would be made up of the states that follow: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Going against my own list, you might want to use the US Census Regions and Divisions map. That would mean the regions/divisions would be as follows: Division 1: New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) Division 2: Mid-Atlantic (New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania) Division 3: East North Central (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin) Division 4: West North Central (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota) Division 5: South Atlantic (Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia) Division 6: East South Central (Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee) Division 7: West South Central (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas) Division 8: Mountain (Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming) Division 9: Pacific (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington) Good luck figuring out a good way to break things into regions!

Seems much more user friendly. Edit: Is there a time limit on edits?

Seems much more user friendly. Edit: Is there a time limit on edits? I've been experimenting with posting various things using "edit", and I've been able to do a lot of 'em w/o restriction that I can detect so far. What I have seen is that the "Preview" function is not always a reliable test of what the text you entered will be like, assuming you enter text that submitting a post might see as "code". I guess. Too early to say, actually, and I'm not all that good with this stuff. I need a manual. Of course, then I'd have to actually read the darn thing! NOTE: See? In that last sentence I found out that Ctrl-b, Ctrl-i and Ctrl-u do what you'd expect: bold, italics and underline. How can you get "strikethrough"? What does Ctrl-s do? Hmmmm... tries to save the page, of course...duh. Not everything is dead easy.
