These are great and a real taste treat for the trail. I realize you can take olives in a ziplock as well, but as an alternative this is a nice addition. Just a Handful of Olives

Actually it's just $0.99 for 1.05 oz of olives. It is the convenience of only having a small amount that if I decide not to eat, I can take on my next backpacking/hiking adventure. If I bought a pound of olives and just put an ounce in a ziplock, I would have to throw them away if I didn't eat them. I have learned that with buying backpacking food, sometimes buying more is more wasteful than buying a smaller though more costly per weight/volume. Anyway, I just offered it as an alternative for a taste treat on the trail. If I have a recipe that required olives, I would likely not use this for the recipe. Rumi

If you could buy just a pound, it would only be $15.08, since the package is 1.05 ounces. One could also say they are paying $$$ for beef, since jerky is $4 an ounce.
