African Aloe Vera, linkThe 2 toned leaved plant is a Purple Heart, sometime called Wandering Jew. Got it from a neighbor and it is prolific. link

you've captured some interesting blends and contrasts in your photo: rugged rock structures on the left sync with rugged yet delicate and artistic tree formations on the right, both of which are anchored in the soft, delicate creek/river, complimented by frothy snow. I love these contrasting and complimentary combinations. Thank you, but that what happens when you are just three miles from the portal to the desert, not even a good sage brush steppe in-between. One of my favorite winter hiking areas when I am done with snow.

zeke, thanks. I do like that Aloe Vera - it's so dramatic. And the Wandering Jew is so soothing. I remember now - Mom used to have a massive onw hanging in her living room. It's strange to have had plants for years and now have forgotten their names.

I had to smile at the vase you used in the last pic.

starwalker, just lovely! Butterflies are so delicate and so beautiful. And so are lilacs. Mine is just leafing out now; still awhile before it blooms. echo, I especially like the Calla photo; I can even see dewdrops on the petals. Thanks to you both for sharing Spring signs, especially for those of us still facing snow.

Spring is when I love where I live, and by where I live actually mean my yard instead of just the beaches and redwoods desert dweller, your picture is lovely. Eucalyptus must have a very wide climate tolerance because it grows well here too

Whenever our classes order butterflies to raise, we are allowed to get painted ladies precisely because there are no native ones here for them to interact with once released. They are beautiful.
