Post here with your photos of whatever you consider the first signs of spring. Flowers, butterflies, a particular look in the sky, whatever tells you that winter is ending and spring is on the way!

A couple weeks ago in Big Bend - the ocotillo were in full bloom, but did not have any green leaves.

This is a Sonoran Blue ( Philotes sonorensis) These wonderful little butterflies are only about 3/4" tip to tail and quite prepared to fly off if you get too close. The fact that they appear around here is fun because it's about as far north as they are found; they are common in the Anza Borrego desert area. I admire them for over-wintering as eggs in leaves of the succulent Dudleya growing on rock faces in the Rock Creek Road area above Chili Bar, then emerging as caterpillars to become one of the first critters to fly as early as March.

How about my car covered in snow last night? I was going to give your post a thumbs up, but decided that a sad face would be more to the point :-(

Spring has finally arrived in Pittsburgh! My daffodils came and went several weeks ago.
