Hey, I found these at Costco for a very good price and the noodles turn out to be very good with a wide range of application. I can freezerbag cook them, but I usually cook them in a pot. I put them in the water, bring the water to a boil, then turn off the stove and let it sit for about five minutes or so. I then drain and use as pad thai noodles, spaghetti substitute, or as a base for other stuff. I usually use a full bloc for most things. This is not your cheap and crappy ramen noodles. Rumi

Pretty good in my opinion. I also use them with an alfredo like sauce with freeze dried broccoli and chicken. I really like them as Pad Thai, which is really easy to fix on the trail. Rumi

As someone who love pesto, I'm wondering how you bring on a hike?

As someone who love pesto, I'm wondering how you bring on a hike? Here's one option: link. Haven't tried it yet myself, but intend to this summer.

As someone who love pesto, I'm wondering how you bring on a hike? The ingredients for pesto are few and simple. Basil, garlic, herbs, salt, pepper, grated Parmesan, and EVO. I use Litehouse basil. Put that in a baggie or other container with salt, pepper, Parmesan, Italian herbs, and granulated garlic. I sometimes grind up some walnuts as well. I throw in a packet of EVO and I assemble at dinner. Any pasta will do, but my favorite is some type of dry tortellini. I put the pasta in water and bring to a boil. Depending on what pasta I have, I will either turn off immediately or let it boil for a minute. I turn off the stove and let the pasta continue to cook in the hot water. Angel hair pasta cooks very fast and you need to stay on top of it or it gets mushy. When the pasta is done, I drain it and add it back into the bag II brought it in. I add the dry ingredients and then the EVO. Stir and it is done. There usually is enough water clinging to the pasta that it helps make the pesto sauce. Truthfully I never measure, I just put in what I think will work. These noodles will work as well, but I usually use tortellini for my pasta pesto. Rumi

As someone who love pesto, I'm wondering how you bring on a hike? Knorr pesto mix and EVOO.
And I second the tortellini. Barilla is precooked and dried so all you have to do is FBC it.

I'm glad you tested these, Rumi--I bought some on my last Costco visit but haven't yet tried them.
As for pesto, I used to make it without the olive oil, dry it, and then mix with a packet of oil and a bit of water on the trail. Haven't done it for a long time, though, because I discovered my husband doesn't actually like pesto much. Come to think of it, with FBC, that doesn't matter. I might have some experimenting to do!

Interesting.
I'm going to Trader Joes after work today. I wonder if they have an equivalent.

Yep I love these. Been using them for a bit. Make a meal out of them adding dehydrated mixed veggies (with dried scallion) and finely chopped teriyaki beef jerky. Additionally I add some Chinese five spice and a soy sauce packet and chopped peanuts. What I do is put the jerky and dried veggies, with the spice powder, in a snack bag. Once I boil water I add it to the mix to allow rehydration. Once straining off the water from noodles, I leave a little bit in and add the soy (and occasionally a duck sauce packet) and rehydrated stuff. Toss in the peanuts and call it good.
