OMG! I looked at the spring 73 issue. External frames, the clothes especially hiking in jeans and those hair cuts gave me a serious flashback

Very cool. Read thru a few different mid 70s issues. Almost all of the boot companies that advertised in them are no longer in business. & those oiled wool sweaters !!!

I started reading BP Magazine in 1973, then got a subscription from 1974 through 1980.
Thanks for the link and memories!

I subscribed early on. They subsequently raised the price and delivered only every other month. I decided it was a lot cheaper to put that same amount of money into our local library and funded a coffee machine so I could read that magazine (and others) in a way that I had become accustomed.
I meet a lot more possible hikers and back packers this way now. I ask interested strangers two questions:
- Have you been up into THOSE (->> pointing) mountains - San Gabriels. You know there are a gazillion trails here and just a bit north are the Sierra. The reference desk has a free two page list of hikes and directions...and links to free ACME maps on line.
- What can you tell me about thorium and can you discuss it for more than 15 seconds? About 2 out of 250 can. I give them a UTube link for more info.
