Three days of record high for Tampa - 96,98,96. Our norm for this time of year is 88. The downside for me was the AC died and I had no AC. I just go my new AC and enjoy the cooler temp however the bank account is worse off.

Crud. I'm supposed to be hiking part of the Colorado Trail in late June... The high peaks west of Denver still look like the dead of winter. Depending upon what part of the trail you are planning to do, it might be fine by the end of June, but if you are doing the highest sections... well, it is always better to plan for early July to start.

Many of the birds here in NE MO have had their first litter. The robins are still singing in the early AM, but not nerly as long. The frogs have mostly gone quiet, the ticks are getting more frisky, smaller birds are chasing larger birds, found our fist cone flower and prairie rrose when hiking yesterday. Spring is winding down here.

I just got re-certified with a crosscut saw and am headed out to clear trails this week. That's springtime!

The clouds tried to clear for a short while, on the high peaks, before another small system rolled in this afternoon.

For some reason, I thought you were planning on starting near the Waterton end and hitting the low elevation portions like sections 3/4/5 through Lost Creek Wilderness. The Durango end has been getting hammered all winter long and is still at 157% "normal" snowpack Late June is normally a bit early, and might be even more so this year. Yes we are keeping a close eye on the snow pack. We are also looking at alternate hikes in case it's just more snow than we care to deal with.

Yep, 30+" Thursday, no power from 4am until 10pm. Our United Power linemen are rock stars. My husband is a Super Geek and ran power from our DSL (which amazingly stayed online, even with being attached to the tree that fell) to the house batteries in our Sprinter camper. So, we had some sort of entertainment other than plowing and shoveling.
