Our local paper stated that they do not know whether or not she was shot inside the park, she hung out a lot near Gardiner, MT. I also don't know if it was determined how long ago she'd been shot before Rangers euthanized her. I understand lots of us like to anthropomorphize these animals because they remind so many of us of beloved dogs but my point is she MAY have been shot legally. The GYE is big but a limited habitat. Without expoentially more mange, etc. we are their only limiting factor other than their prey base.
It is indeed sad she came to this end after a dozen long years but remember wolf numbers in the Northern Rockies are far above the most optimistic of original projections and have been for some time even with hunting in the 3 states and Wyoming's Predator Zone. With the Congressional Endaround bringing this controversey to an end a long time coming Defenders of Wildlife and other "advocates" need to find a new cash cow to tug at suburban heartstrings.

The Park Service is saying it was shot within the park if you have other info a link would be appreciated.
