What part of the country are you from? What part do you hike in? How do you feel about: Bacon? Brussel Sprouts? Single malt? Beets? Kilts?

I hail from the Southeast, Northern Alabama to be specific. I've hiked mainly in Tennessee and North Carolina and a few small mini day hikes in Yosemite. Pan fried bacon is a wonderful way to start the day. Oh and roasted brussel sprouts with maybe some chicken is a nice way to end the day. Yes I like Brussel Sprouts when done right. Never tried single malt, but hey I think that needs to be on the list with visiting Scotland along with maybe trying ona kilt. Beets?? No thanks.

Just what we need, more knuckleheads from the Saturday Evening Convicts League.
Welcome aboard Mistman. You've got some great folks in your region on this forum. May the trail rise up to meet you.

Howdy! Brussels Sprouts are best braised in bacon grease.

Pull up a rock or a log, sit by the fire and tell us a bit about yourself. Welcome from the PNW.

Welcome from Idaho. Nothing to see here, the trails are crowded, move along. Move along.

Thanks for all the welcomes! A little about myself. I haven't hiked very much since graduating college in 06. Off an on, the odd day hike here day hike there, but I haven't done any overnighters. We had our first baby last November and it got me thinking that I work too much. Time for a change. One of those changes is to get back outside. I want to bring our little one up knowing and enjoying the trail. My goal this year is a day hike at least once a month.

Young families have a way of interfering with long bps. Once the kids are about 4-5, then you can really begin to train them for the day they carry your load. When they are 18, they no longer want to hang with the parents, but they'll be back after 30.
