...javelina while walking your dog.
Oro Valley woman injured in javelina attack Published:Wednesday, March 29th 2017, 1:59 pm MST Updated:Wednesday, March 29th 2017, 1:59 pm MST By Tucson News Now Staff
"The woman was with her husband walking their dog in a residential neighborhood when they came into contact with a herd of javelina," the AGFD said in a news release. "The dogs responded aggressively to the javelina, but the couple maintained control of their pet and attempted to leave the area. As they did, one of the javelina bit the woman on her thigh."

Javelina have poor vision and are really dumb. They stampede through campsites in South Texas and Big Bend all the time. But I've never heard of anyone getting bitten by one! The link states that the presence of dogs caused the javelina to bite. That makes sense.

That does seem a bit strange. I generally only catch a glimpse of them as they scurry off.

Poor vision, dumb, and stampeding through campsites sounds like a trip I took in high school with some friends.
But those javelina can be pretty nasty.

I'm glad that javelinas have yet to take an interest in me.

They are raised for food in some parts of the world. Maybe kill 'em and grill 'em?

You can't fire a weapon in town. Arizona, recently, passed a law that allows for using "snake shot" in cities. But, no, you can't take out your 45 and shoot a javelina.

But, no, you can't take out your 45 and shoot a javelina. If I'm in fear for my life I most certainly can, and will. I think I could beat that one in court....should an aggressive DA decide to prosecute....which I find highly unlikely....

9. In self-defense or defense of another person against an animal attack if a reasonable person would believe that deadly physical force against the animal is immediately necessary and reasonable under the circumstances to protect oneself or the other person. www.azleg.gov/ars/13/03107.htmSo, I think I'd be in compliance with the law.....

Sorry. It bit her on the thigh. Deadly force would not be necessary or reasonable. Obviously the animal did her no further harm, and killing it would only make matters worse.

Had she killed it they could have tested it for rabies and saved her a lot of misery from the shots.... No doubt.....I'd have popped a cap....
