Tough to choose just one! There is something about Zion that just captivates me in a spiritual way and I will keep going back. Saguaro National Park was pretty special, too - I did a Sierra Club volunteer trip there, so not as much hiking - I'm looking forward to exploring it again next fall/winter. Big Bend is another one I need to return to again. I'm intrigued with Big Bend. Looks like a wide open landscape. Don't know if/how I'll ever get down there. Just don't find myself travelign anywhere near there anytime soon. It's definitely worth the trip! From Chicago we had a direct flight to El Paso and then made a road trip. I loved the whole area - Alpine, Marfa, Ft Davis. Got lots of great tips from these boards before we went. I'm hoping to work this into my road trip later this year, but it's definitely not convenient!

Maybe I'll have to make it a point before the whole park gets walled off and sold to Mexico (to help pay for the wall).

Hey tallgrass, an invaluable resource on planning a Big Bend Trip is Big Bend Chat which has a vibrant online community.

Never heard of it, but it must be huge. The trails could be, well, endless. I can't even imagine the scale on the topo map.

Sequoia/Kings Canyon - it was the first one I worked in, the first one I did a long serious backpacking trip in, the first one I did a solo trip in, the first one I did an off-trail backpacking excursion in, etc. And it contains so much drop-dead gorgeous mountain scenery and big trees it's enough to keep anyone busy for a lifetime.

So, what is/are your favorite NPs...? Just like dogs, I haven't found one I didn't like. However, just as I am a border collie guy, Utah parks are my sweet spot.

I live next to Lassen Volcanic so I have proximity bias. No crowds, no quotas, off trail/cross country is easy.
