Back when live music was ALIVE and not ann attempt to copy the studio version of their songs. Turn it up to 11 if you want the full effect.

Now wouldn't be a real drag if we were all the same?

Yesterday was an anniversary of sorts in music. On August 27, 1991 the debut album Ten by Pearl Jam dropped. It has had a huge impact on modern rock music. All the songs on this album are good, not one stinker, IMO. To celebrate I will post one of the big songs that go lots of airplay and video views, Even Flow. Feel free to post your favorite off the album.

I saw Humble Pie back in '74 at the Chicago Amphitheater, and their "Smokin" LP got a lot of play on my turntable. We had front row balcony seats and I rembember seeing someone in the front row floor pass a joint up to Steve Mariott, who took a toke.
A few years later I had a summer job working with a guy my age, and we talked about concerts we'd been to. Before I mentioned the Pie, he said he saw them at the Amphitheater and barged his way to the front row. Someone passed him a joint on a big fancy roach clip, and he handed it up to the lead singer.
Small world, sometimes.

I saw Humble Pie back in '74 at the Chicago Amphitheater I saw Humble Pie about four or five times between 1971 and 1974, most was three times in St Louis. They were without a doubt the loudest band concert I have ever attended. I had to have ear protection. I stuffed a bit of cotton in my ears. Lots of left-handed cigarettes were smoked by myself and most others. Rumi

This ranks up there with This Is Spinal Tap as being the funniest stuff about modern music ever. Hope you enjoy it.

Space Caesar, by The Water, live. Two people, two guitars, drums, keyboard, and a bunch of loops. Apparently they were a Baltimore duo which disbanded in 2017 or so. I've been enjoying 10 Lbs and Space Caesar from their The Water 2 album. Here's a bit of an outlier. Auld Lang Syne, also by The Water, on their Elf Storage EP. No video, so you'll have to do a bit of clicking. It's... different, as one would expect.

RumiDudeFYI The Beasty Boys just released a 5 part Anthology. Parts A through D are free. But you have to fight for the right to Part E.

Back when live music was ALIVE and not ann attempt to copy the studio version of their songs. Turn it up to 11 if you want the full effect. .. Hard to say what a modern audience wants at these ticket prices. Think Sir Paul can only get away with a little variation of performing Beatles tracks.. like Something on ukulele and only cause George liked playing it like that. There’s still a lotta rock being performed. Here’s Metallica with guest vocalist .. Lady Gaga done up as a rocker at the Grammys performing Moth to a Flame. Loads at 720 so maybe slow.. Nice costume, you can actually make out the lyrics, and the flame background is great. Maybe more metal acts should get women singers as to understand the lyrics? The backup dancers/faux crowd surf probably unwarranted but, hey, it’s the Grammys .. probably in the union contract!

And from the quiet Beatle, the question we all ask from time to time.
