It's a bit over 100f outside so I am inside with nothing much to do... "My target was a 1,000 calorie meal. I've managed to get it into ~250 gelatin capsules". Adult males hiking should consume 4000-5000 calories per day. At 4000 calories you would need to ingest 1000 capsules per day. If my calculations are correct, with one capsule at .160 g (type 000) you would ingest 160 g ( 5.6 oz) of gelatin per day. I think 100g is considered to be an upper safe limit. I would imagine that after one or two days your stomach might have some problems digesting all of that gelatin , resulting in bloating and possible worst side effects. But I am not a doctor.... BTW, can you swallow those pills without drinking ? If not, lets pretend that you can swallow two with each sip of water. You get about 60 sips from 1 litre, so to ingest 1000 pills you would need to drink about 8 litres. That is 2.11 gallons per day.

She says there's no way in hell she'd eat 250 capsules for a meal. You should listen to your wife. Don't feel bad....I hear this same phrase all the time.
