I will be in the Salt Lake City area the first week of August and would like to do a 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip in the Uinta Mountains. There will be 2 experienced adults and 2 dogs. We would prefer something very secluded with little or no traffic. I would appreciate any suggestions.

When I lived in Rangely, Colorado, I went over that way once or twice a season. Get a map of the wilderness area. There are several loop possibilities from the south side of the range that are good for 3 days. One I remember off the top of my head is Yellowstone Creek. I think the pass it went over mid-way was Bluebell Pass or something like that. There were at least 2 other such loops that I did east or west of that loop. If you go west further to Granddaddy Lake Trailhead, you'll run into more hikers. Those other loops east of there I'd see no one to up to 2 other groups. This was in the fall, though. Summer may have a few more people.
