I’m part of the cool kids now. It’s very comfortable, warm and breathable. Anyone else have one?

By appointment? Yep. Or if you show up when they open like I did, you might get lucky cause they sometimes have a couple “overstocks” on the rack. I had to shove a few people down to get one.

By appointment?
They started that during the pandemic. I guess they stuck with it. I've been there a dozen times, but I haven't gone inside since 2019.

Because limiting peripheral vision with a hood is the sensible approach.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people believe that the world is in need of yet another tech clothing company but I guess if you can make it work and make a profit doing it I'll say more power to you.

As long as marmie and his coterie of rich friends and influencers keep chasing new trends, they'll be fine. Saunter up to the outdoor espresso bar. Take the tag off first.

I purchased several Arc’teryx beta down jackets. I cut them up and let my mechanic use them as rags when he changes the oil in my Ford 850.

Flight and car rental costs are going to limit my latte choices, I'm afraid. But, it appears to a must........

Mellie is Melanzama, who sew all their fleece hoodies in the USA last I checked. Pretty loose styling while still weight saving enough for hiking until about 2020 (see my explanation below). The brand got so popular (and still is) that they had to institute a “in person” shopping requirement and finally an appointment to keep their shop small. Um, what us cool kids are wearing. … Actually now alpha-direct is the latest and greatest, .. a lighter more airier version of microfleece sewn in the USA for now. My Senchi zip hoody weights 5.8 oz in XL (90gsm weight fabric). You don’t need an appointment but your buy finger on their online store (or sometimes GarageGrownGear) needs to be quick. Big con is alpha direct doesn’t take a beating like fleece does. It’s not fragile if in the 90gsm range but wierd things can cause a problem like touching it to hook and loop” (aka Velcro) surfaces. Of course 60 gsm and below gets fragile for only 1 oz lighter if that. So I’m getting almost all the performance of an R1, melly, TNF 100, etc fleece at about half the weight. Alpha-direct was thought up/tested/manufactured as a more breathable under-liner to special forces softshells fwiw, .. that’s why it cannot be abused like “heavier” microfleece, 100 wt fleece, etc.. Cliesd if sticking to trail in enjoyable temperatures, abrasion isn’t a big concern at 90gsm plus. So sorry DR, technology has moved on. The melly is competitive with the R1 for real cold weather though, and looks less techno-dork if sipping coffee by the fire. Tending a wood fire? Definitely. For hiking? It’s alpha-direct for me (though Octa is very close to aloha performance wise).
