I returned my AKU Rockets to REI. Unfortunately, they were killing me. Not enough cushioning and I was feeling rocks. I also felt I would wear then out very quickly due to the outsole. Very disappointed AKU Rockets did not work for me. Well, I got a deal on a pair of Mammut Ducan low GTX hikers. Great price at $120.25 when they go for $185. Really sharp color, too. Mammut bought Raichle Boots several years back. This will be my 3rd Mammut product I’ve purchased recently. I’m really looking forward to getting these out on the trails. Anyone here ever try Mammut boots or trail shoes? I hear Mammut makes good boots/trails shoes. Here are a few pics… Happy Trails, DR

When I find a pair of hiking shoes I like I try to get a second pair if they’re not too expensive. Inevitability, gear, boot and shoe makers change a product, and I end up not liking it as much as past models. I’ve been wearing these Mammut Duncan lows for a couple of months and really like them. Flextron technology, GTX, great Vibram sole, comfortable and good looking. I really like the sapphire color. They are not like Hokka or ON, as they have a firmer feel to them. Well, last week I decided to get a second pair. Mammut lists them for $185; however, Backcountry had them for $148; it was more than they had them listed for two months ago at $120.25. Fortunately, Backcountry had sent me a 20% off coupon, so I was able to get them for even less ($118) than last time. Backcountry had them to my house in less than two days from ordering (standard shipping). One thing I did this time was to size up 1/2 size to 11.5. I wanted a little more room when hiking downhill on hills & mountains. If you’re looking for a new pair of hiking shoes consider the Mammut Duncan lows. Regards, DR
