Looking for advice on the Tahoe Rim Trail

I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Tahoe Rim Trail this year and I'm just starting to gather information. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have a friend who owns property in Tahoe City about 100 yards from the trail near the trailhead. So there's my prospective point of entry/exit/parking

So my questions would be- Is this an ok point of entry?

Are there any pros/cons about traveling CW vs. CCW?

Starting from there, I would appreciate recommendations for camp sites, resupplying, water. I know the area very well having grown up near Sacramento and spending a lot of time in the Lake Tahoe area.
