I've enjoyed Fayhee's writing in Backpacker, and have heard him interviewed on The Trail Show. And I love the Gila. I look forward to reading this book, I hope it will be available on NOOK soon.

He did the text of a great Colorado Trail Photo Book years ago. He's done great work for a long time. Enjoy his posts on Facebook.

For those of you who have enjoyed Fayhee’s writing over the years, Up at Altitude is something you’d probably enjoy reading. It’s a book he wrote in the mid-nineties.

I'd expect no less from a denizen of Silver City. The excerpt made me laugh out loud. Last April, we flew into Albuquerque and somehow got massively upgraded for free to a BMW X5 ultra-SUV. We then drove down through Silver City trying to keep it under 100, up into the mountains to Gila Hot Springs. As I stood at the kiosk signing into our tent site, the Apache caretaker that lives in a ratty trailer near the entrance came up and started to ask some inconsiderate and pointed questions. After a few sentences of explanation and realizing my long grey beard wasn't a fake, he laughingly said he initially thought we were the type of a-donuts that they didn't want sullying their idyllic little enclave. After all , look what we were driving. You're becoming my personal librarian, DR.
