Sand creek lakes, how hard is the road to get to trailhead? Someone mentioned in Alltrails don’t even try the road unless you have a lifted 4 wheel drive. Would a stock Crosstrek make it?

I assume you are talking about the upper trailhead, not the lower one.
A few years ago, I drove maybe not quite halfway up in my Subaru Forester. I came to a muddy section that I decided not to try to drive through, so I backed down the road a little way to a pull off where other vehicles were parked. Looked like they made the same decision that I did. As we walked the rest of the way to the upper trailhead I noticed that the road wasn't that bad, but I still wouldn't have tried the mud without a legit 4 WD like a Jeep Wrangler.
Short answer, you can go up the road until you aren't comfortable with it, then use one of the pull offs to park.
Edit - backing down the road to the pull off was scary.

I wasn’t sure if the person meant the whole road or the last section.

Music Pass Upper Trailhead had as I remember one steep move that was not even close to an issue for the best vehicle I've ever owned, a 1993 SEV6 Nissan Pickup.
Sure hope you're taking your pole. Fishing pole that is. Just amazing.

Weren’t the lakes recently poisoned in order to restock or something? (I’m not a fisherman, so I’m a little thin on the details.)
I’ve walked the road several times, but not in the last few years, so I have no current info. I have done some 4WD roads to trailheads in my wife’s RAV4, but it usually ends up being a pretty scary experience. (Clearance being the primary issue.)
