If you don't mind spending $16 for a meal, then Pinnacle Foods might be of interest to you. I saw an article online about the company, and then I went to their website to see which meals might interest me. The price is a little high for regular use, IMO. I may buy a couple to try. Seems like an option to my current rotation.

As I've indicated before, I don't usually worry about cost of backpacking meals, since I rarely spend more than a few weeks in the back country each year. I am willing to pay for convenience and decent meals. In this regard, I can definitely recommend Pinnacle, though I haven't had all that many of their offerings. I have had the Italian sausage and pasta, and liked it very much. But the jalapeno biscuits and gravy is, in my opinion, off the charts good, by far the best freeze-dried breakfast I have had. If you're looking for a hearty backpacking breakfast, I would definitely recommend trying this. My current favorite company is Stowaway Gourmet. Even more expensive than Pinnacle, but so delicious. Their customer service is not great, and they typically seem to take a few months to fill their orders, but the quality of the food is worth it, IMHO.
