Very nice, Galiwalker...! Years ago there was a guy who hiked to the summit daily! He made so many trips to the top and never missed a day. Worked off-shift (I think at the nearby EMS) and was able to get out daily. Backpacker mag even did a small profile piece on him. Well, thx for sharing your pics! You always post excellent pics! Do you live in the area?
Regards,
DR

Nope. My sister-in-law lives in Massachusetts, and we visit every Thanksgiving. Mount Monadnock is the coolest location within a 2hr drive from their house that I know of. (I used to go up Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts, but Mount Monadnock is nicer so I've switched to it.)

Born a Ma$$hole I loved several hikes on Monadnock. Franconia Notch is 2 hours from Boston. Have you ever done the Franconia Ridge Loop? Dartmouth's Ravine Lodge is also not much over 2 hours from Boston. Doing Moosilaukee from there is awesome but not so sure this late in the calendar. Moosilaukee from there is best dayhike I ever did out East. Asquam Ridge REALLY underrated.
Outstanding! thanks for sharing.

I’ve done the Franconia Ridge loop, and the 1-day Presidential Traverse. These are the only two hikes of any significance, other than Mount Monadnock, that I’ve done in New Hampshire.

I rarely open this forum, I'm glad I did. I've never been up Monadnock, but have done many, many White Mountains/Presidentials backpack and winter climbing trips "back in the day." I've lived away from New England for 41 years, but I have to say I still have a longing for the woodlands and mountains of New England where my formative years were spent. Very nice photos GaliWalker ... thanks for the trip back.
