I just received a replacement Nikon EN-EL15b battery from them that I had not asked for. I’d bought one in NYC before a recent trip and customer service (whom I called when I received my “order confirmation”, an order I had not placed) told me it was a replacement for a recall of these Lithium ion batteries. This latest generation had been tweaked to be rechargeable while installed in the latest Nikon mirrorless cameras (though backwards compatible otherwise) and I guess they missed the mark a bit.
So B&H just up and sent me the replacement without my requesting (or even knowing there was a recall).
Kudos.
I’ve had previous good experiences on more expensive purchases (additions to holiday bundles that I qualified for having bought the camera within their 30 day window: sent by just asking. ). But it was nice to see they had my back in this. Those Li batteries are nothing I want to mess with given the entire bursting into flame, bulging and bursting track record of the chemistry.

B&H is my first go-to for optics, camera's, etc... an absolutely top-tier store.

I’d shopped there online for years and even with their being close to Penn Station (And I’m a big train fan) had never been in their store until quite recently (in part since I prefer avoiding that NYC sales tax).
The place is enormous and ridiculously busy even late on a Sunday.

Recently I purchased two used items from them. The first was a camera at about 1/3rd off the new price, it had taken 63 photos (advertised as Excellent, looked like new). I discovered the shutter actuation looking at the MetaData on my first few photos from it. The second , a camera for my wife, advertised as 9 out of 10, it could have been sold as new. Not a mark, all the original bits in the box . The funny thing is that because of International regulations I could not buy an extra lithium battery however exactly the same battery was shipped inside the box (standard included bit)

I would visit more often, but I tend to go into the City on Saturday rather than Sunday, so I'm usually out of luck.
B&H is also my first pick for pro audio, and they have a lot of good computer deals.

It's hard to go wrong with B&H or KEH. For those who don't know, KEH sells used equipment. Their prices are a little high sometimes, but their ratings are ultra conservative. I've bought lenses which were no longer made that looked and performed as if brand new, but did not carry their highest rating.
I've purchased from both since about the early 80s. Yeah, paper catalogs.

BigLoad Same here: I take advantage of the Met’s evening hours on Saturday to get a day in of wandering photographing buildings etc. then a quick few hours until nine in there: then home on the NJTransit and onward. (I’d use Amtrak but, those prices, plus the schedule to my closest station isn’t great, I’d have to leave early wasting a lot of the day, multi day visits that can work but not day trips).

The store is worth seeing in person. Even with NYC sales tax stuff they is still less than a lot of places. I haven't been there in a while but I remember that the salesmen were very knowledgeable and helpful. Like more concerned with helping you buy the right thing for you than just trying to just sell stuff.

Yeah, paper catalogs. KEH is great. I don't know how many used lenses I've gotten from them over the years, and I generally buy the "bargain" condition. They may be a bit worn looking, but the glass and functionality is still perfect.

Follow up: I found an email from them I’d missed. Turns out it wasn’t a Nikon recall but instead one of their distributors sent them a batch of counterfeits. I was within the probable window so they sent me a verified Nikon replacement.
