I'm trying to get a couple more years out of my 15 year old 32 bit laptop. My old Linux distro wasn't working as well as it used to so I've been trying out half-a-dozen others. Linux Lite seems to work the best so I've installed it and am putting it through its paces. As a side note, my four year old smartphone has a faster processor and more ram than this laptop.

I always carry at least a 10" blade in case I end up in a survival situation, but HYOH.

Yeah, I'm just delaying the inevitable. The current release of Linux Lite is only 64-bit. I had to use an older version but it's supported until April, 2021. When I was trying out different Linux distros I read someplace that only 10 percent of Linux users are currently using 32-bit ISOs and many of them are using them on 64-bit systems. So it makes sense to focus resources on 64-bit versions.

Why stop there? A Dell Latitude 5420 Rugged laptop that could handle all the rigors of a survival situation can be had for as little as $1,399. A GPS card can be added for ~$300. Didn't see a 10" blade in the list of customizable options but I'm sure Dell could come up with something.

You probably already know this, but orange shoes will ground you. Just in case you're cracking it open and playing with components.

And people laugh at me for my 20 year old keyboard. Wouldn't that make it a PS2 type connector not USB? You wold need a similarly old PC to make use of it wouldn't you?

I still, sadly...own a few PS2 to USB adapters. I have a few of the green USB to PS2 adapters kicking around. For years they came with USB keyboards. It might be a good question to ask myself: why do I still have these?

I wish I had one of the really good originals, but this one's heavy, solid, noisy, and beats the pants of the Playskool things that come with new computers. I have to guard it whenever I get a new computer at work or the knuckleheads will throw it away.

Yeah, I've been looking at getting a new Mechanical keyboard. They are more responsive for gaming, which I recently got back into.
