Growing up, Mom used to feed us Hamberger Helper Cheeseburger Macaroni. Often she would use ground venison. Mom was an outstanding cook, but sometimes she did not feel like putting forth the effort. As an adult, I have re-created a from scratch version of the dish that is darn tasty! I recently created a backpacking version. A couple of weeks ago, I hiked out to some local waterfalls to shoot a video on making it. I use some dried herbs, and spices, combined with freeze-dried hamburger crumbles from Mountain House, and a box of Mac, and Cheese. Here in the PNW Tillamook makes little 0.75oz blocks of medium cheddar cheese. I toss in a couple of those to make it even better! If you are looking for a printed version of the recipe, follow the link in the video description to my blog. Click here to watch the video!
