I see I've missed some new posts. bradmacmt , lovely photo, serene and peaceful. It's the kind of photo that eases the transition from morning to day and day to night. High Sierra Fan, so, so very beautiful, and literally magical. atvtuner , there's nothing like the warmth of the sun in fall, highlighting and contrasting the colors. Beautiful photo. Moonshae , another peaceful, serene photo, with stunning contrast between the rugged rocks, the soft water at their base, and the multicolored sunset. Thanks to everyone for sharing; I don't need to buy Nat Geo. I just come to the photo threads on this forum.

The Valley does that when the conditions line up. I had a slide film shot of mine printed for my dad who was a big Tolkien fan of that sort of breaking storm from Tunnel View . Gates of Mordor.
The Conservancy webcams are a great source of inspiration.

Adobe Town Wilderness Study Area - Wyoming - in the Red Desert. my submission for a BB forum banner. I have both backpacked and base camp-to-day-hiked this area over the years. I won't be back until 2020. 57,000 acres of incredible siltstone and breccia badlands and hoodoos. Probably the most famous and most threatened remaining wilderness in Wyoming. There are 42 BLM Wilderness Study Areas in Wyoming. This is one of the most magnificent areas of the American West. All protections and possible designation of Adobe Town Wilderness would disappear if Representative Liz Cheney (WY-AL), the Wyoming Farm Bureau, the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, The County Commissioners of Lincoln, the major Oill and Gas associations, Big Horn and Sweetwater County and a host of Motorized interests from snowmobilers to ORV groups get their way through proposed legislation like HR 6839. - Adobe Town Wilderness Study Area - Wyoming

Some truly amazing stuff my friends, thank you for sharing. Time for this pointandshootaramus to share a few. The Pinnacle Buttes rise above the West side of Wyoming's Dunoir Valley in your first National Forest, the Shoshone. The photo is taken from perhaps a 90 second stroll from the Lodge and Cabin area on a Guest Ranch the Adirondack Mountain Club has been basing one of their hiking vacations in August for more than a half dozen years now. This photo was taken in May. Spring greets some of the high Peaks of the Gros Ventre Range as seen from the southern/eastern crest of the Gros Ventre Wilderness' Granite Hi-Line Trail in your Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wyoming.
One of my best friends took this photo of me and his dog and my buddy Aiko Aiko hiking the Breccia Divide, southern boundary of the Teton Wilderness, in Wyoming's Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Galli's photo reminded me of this one-Fishhawk Cliffs in the winter. You can barely see Ausable Lake below.

I consolidated some of my old supplies and projects and came across this Mt. Tom is probably one of the most difficult peaks in the sierra. Not because of technical difficulty, but because it is a physical burner. The north ridge looks straight forward, but is actually a long series of ups and downs.Starts around 7k and then one has 4k of up and down on choss. A beautiful peak seen from Bishop. Skiing down Elderberry canyon is a 3k descent. Earn your turns for sure.
