Here's another. Just me having a bit of fun. Here I am, still, a newbie, scrolling through pages for great pictures and saw this. I thought the picture was alienated or something with a stone-like floating between the mountains. Then I realized it was upside down after all... haha! Great eyes tho, and I'm learning a lot from this forum site!

I got some interesting reflections last week. I think I'll share one here, and one in the "Abstracts" gallery. I took this in a bit of standing water along the "Battle Road" in Minuteman National Historic Park (Concord, MA).

Those are fascinating, rebeccad . I love the third one for its deep colors and sense of stillness before night sets in.

Those are fascinating, rebeccad . I love the third one for its deep colors and sense of stillness before night sets in. It does sort of have that look, but actually it was morning! I deliberately underexposed to create the silhouettes and to bring out the grey reflections (the water, as you might expect from something backed up behind a very recent slide made out of glacial silt, was very muddy grey).

A couple from Carrizo Plain during April this spring of 2019. I found numbers of these shallow ponds in an obscure area I doubt any others have explored. This first image, a (downsized) 3 by 1 stitch blend at 9300 by 6000 pixels and also focus stack blended, has a foreground of goldfields and purple owls clover. In both images one can see a few other species. The shallow water was the result of a recent storm dumping heavily in just a limited zone of the park and probably evaporated within a week or two.
And this second image is a 4 by 1 stitch blend at 12400 by 6000 pixels. I had found the pond the day before a bit late in the morning when light was a bit too harsh so came back the next day. The amazingly dense goldfields often rise up within a week or two of soaking storms and quickly lose saturation due to sun bleaching. When fresh, such areas have a strong sweet fragrance.

Been a while for this thread! But during the holidays, we took a walk in the park and conditions were perfect.

Can someone explain how the reflection captures the inside of the row boat? I took this in the evening at Smith Lake in the Plumas NF last June. Three of us photographed the same scene, and got the same reflection. I guess it's just an illusion that makes it look like the bow in the reflection is closer to shore than the stern. In reality, the bow is the part of the reflection that is closest to the camera.
