... in February. This is not normal. I was on one of my little mental health hikes this morning, and noticed several signs of spring. 1) The moss is turning bright green, putting up new growth over the dark green of winter. 2) The beginnings of several spiderwebs. 3) The sound of peepers. 4) Not only did I see two people on the trail, but both of them had unleashed dogs which felt the need to inspect me.

Here in NJ, this week's constant rain melted the 7" of snow we got last Saturday night. A couple freakishly warm days alternated with some cool ones, and it's trending toward warmer this week. I don't think we'll hear peepers for a while, though.

It's supposed to get above freezing today. If it does, it will be the first time this week. It was below zero several mornings and all of the ponds that were starting to thaw are refrozen and under 5" of snow.

It's been another underwhelming winter. Cold for about a month from late December into late January, but that's it.

Been in upper 70s all week. It's slightly chillier today. Everything is blooming. I'm ready for all the trees and grass to be green. Not much longer!

I’m not ready to declare winter vanquished just yet. Last year, this very thing happened and then there was a cold snap which killed off all the flowers.

I’m not ready to declare winter vanquished just yet. Same here. There are still six weeks left in which snow could fall.

I'd like temps above 70 (but below 80) from Memorial Day to Labor Day. After that I would like temps at or below freezing for December through February. Humidity would preferably never get above 50%.

I don’t count out snow here until around the 15th of June... we’ve gotten over 100” of snow at our house since November. Was below zero most mornings this past week, but we hit the mid 20’s today. Good news is the sunlight is returning, something I always notice come mid February.

I must say that seeing signs of spring here in late February is, uh, unusual. Part of that is due to how La Nina years like this play out in this area. The weather is generally more volatile, so the lengthy periods with highs in the teens and twenties and lows from 0 to single digits, then bursts into the 70s and even 80s, aren't totally unexpected.
