I came across this while browsing in a local book store and picked it up. I know it's always dangerous to list the best of anything, but I still find such topics interesting. If you've no idea of where to start hiking in a park this book gives a nice overview of some of the great hikes our national parks have to offer. Of course, not everyone is going to be completely happy as their favorites - parks or hikes - may be left out (could be that's a good thing) and some of the hikes are already extremely popular and crowded, but I enjoyed learning about some routes I wasn't even vaguely aware of. If you're into technology while hiking, the text gives a pretty detailed list of way points for each hike, not my particular cup of tea, but others may like it. All in all, it makes for pleasant arm chair hiking and dreaming. I liked it. www.amazon.com/Backpacker-National-Parks-Coast-Hikes-ebook/dp/B01FYGGJ4A

Browsing the table of contents really reminded me how little of my serious hiking has taken place in national parks. The NPs in Washington (state) are the only ones I’ve really hiked extensively, and of those, NCNP is the only one whose trails I know exhaustively and intimately, and I find their three picks plausible, although I would probably choose two different from theirs. (I WOULD include Cascade Pass/Sahara Glacier Camp as they did—that’s an unreal hike in terms of scenic bang for the mileage/elevation buck.)
