Day or night. Give a description.
This is 4 minutes. I'm pretty sure there are two dominate and distinctive sounds. Frogs croaking and the clicking is from bats.
Night Sounds along the Blue River.

Monsoon. I put a camera on a chair facing out the back door. It's starts getting crazy around 35 seconds in.
Monsoon. Tucson Arizona.

Not really nature. But, still a cool sound.
Two night trains passing. Tucson.

I have often thought about getting some good recording gear to record sounds like this but for right now my phone actually does a good job. I've got things from peepers in the spring to my dog growling.

I've got things from peepers in the spring to my dog growling. All the recordings above were made with either a camera or phone. I use the Zoom H2 for digitizing my LPs, cassettes and such. It digitizes any audio signal or sounds picked up by the unit's mics.

How heavy is this? I can see myself wanting this in the back country. It weighs about 5 ounces without batteries. I brought it once on a hike to use to try to capture some bird calls. The "auto-start" feature is really good for that. I primarily use it for recording my radio show. It creates a WAV file with the same quality as a CD. The files are much larger than an MP3 file. The new model better allows you to sync the higher sound quality with a movie from a camera. It might be available at Best Buy where you can take advantage of their return policy to use it for a couple of weeks and see if it will fit your needs.

DD those are two terrific videos. I love the Blue River night sounds. Have been in that kind of place. Wonderful on a warm late spring evening. Amazing amount of water pouring off the roof showed how hard it was raining.
I'll be working on a youtube account soon. For sounds you'll like videos I made of Cherry Creek rapids in peak early summer flow.
Trains are also exciting to feel as when one is standing next to one, the ground is shaking and vibrating.

Yes! Love the sounds of nature...
Yesterday it was the sound of rain, softly at first, then more strongly, then almost torrential, and accompanied by frequent cracks of thunder. I love summer storms; they're so dynamic, and refreshing.
Crickets serenade in the evening; some of them even invite themselves into the basement for a more personal concert. When we used to go on bike rides into the undeveloped areas, we stopped at marshes and ponds to let the frogs serenade us.
There's a new bird in the area; I can't yet identify it, but it has a soft melodic, short chirp, different from any I've heard before.
The sound of wind at any time of the day is welcome, and the dances it provokes in trees are a natural accompaniment. Winds have such a range, from gentle, to aggressive to violent.
The sound of waves gently lapping on sand is so soothing; I used to go to Michigan's West Coast around Saugatuck, find a quiet, isolated spot, sit on the sand and let the sound of waves lull me to relaxation. Right now there is no sound at all, just the soft breezes silently moving tree limbs to and fro, causing upturned maple leaves on the tree next door. Tis a beautiful day, even if it's predicted to hit 90 later on.

Water sounds, forest sounds are things we're all familiar with. I'd like to have the recorder on when something like a rock fall happens.

Oh yeah; going to buy one of these gizmos for recording my dad's stories, thunderstorms, streams/rivers and much more. desert dweller and I exchanged some PMs on this gizmo. Sounds like a great way to save memories of sounds. One trip in the sierra was crossing a talus field. At one point there was a small stream running under the talus. The sound of the music the stream and rock it was running through was unique. Found a nice boulder and listened to the music for an hour or so before moving on.

I so love these different sounds of nature BUT except that train sounds, I kinda don't like it, to be honest. Also, I wanna add the sounds of crickets as my favorite sound that nature produces.

One day a couple years ago I was sitting in my tree stand, and there wasn't a single thing moving in forest. But I kept hearing a great horned owl a ways off. Succumbing to boredom, I found a bird sounds website and played a great horned owl call over my phone in the direction of the owl. Within a minute, I see a dark shadow gliding through the forest towards me. Landing on a branch about 8 feet away from me, the owl glared at me with pure malice. After realizing I was too big eat, and apparently not wanting to waste energy clawing my eyes out, it glided off. I looked a bit closer at the call I was broadcasting through the forest... Great Horned Owl Territorial Call. Oops. Lesson learned. birdsna.org/Species-Account/bna/species/grhowl/introduction
