I am considering a trip to the Buffalo National River at the end of the month. The first night I will probably stay at the Steel Creek campground because that seems to be the most scenic area. Does anyone have any suggestions for a 1 or 2 night backpacking trip near that end of the park?

I would go east on the Buffalo River Trail towards Kyle's Landing. There's assorted primitive campsites along the trail....or find your own spot. I camped above Steel Creek a couple weekends ago. There's many trails in that area.

I ended up backpacking near Big Bluff off of the Centerpoint Trail. Here is the trip report.
