I'm thinking about hiking the R2R between Garden of the Gods and Lusk Creek this spring. I don't suppose anyone has info on possible hiker shuttle in the area?

Where exactly are you talking about? R2R sounds like Grand Canyon...which isn't in the midwest, so I'm confused.

You might be able to arrange a shuttle through Camp Ondessonk. I don't think they can charge you, but they recommend a donation.

I spoke with someone at Shawnee Trails who was very friendly but was also not aware of any local shuttle optionss. He did suggest contacting one of the local horse camps to see if they have any suggestions, so I think I'll try that next.

I called a friend in Carbondale. John ODell is no longer involved in the R2R. I suggest calling a few of the horse camps near Eddyville, the town nearest Lusk Creek: Bear Branch www.bearbranch.comDouble M www.doublemcampground.com34 Ranch campnative.com/campgrounds/usa/il/herod/34-ranch-campgroundIt’s an easy walk from the west TH at Lusk to Eddyville —about a mile. There are also some very scenic spots just west of Lusk Creek/Eddyville. Jackson Hole, Double Branch Hole and Hayes Creek are all very scenic. Not quite in the R2R trail but close by and accessible via other FS trails.
