Anyone know if the Chuck Keiper and AFT trails have been impacted by drilling? I'm thinking about a trip in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone had hiked them lately or heard anything.

Well if there is one thing I like about these boards is learning of new hikes I hadn't heard of before. I'll add this to my list of possible new hikes.

I'd highly recommend Jeff Mitchell's (Jmitch on here) book Backpacking PA. Great descriptions and details on everything PA.

Both trails should be fine. AFT did not have any drilling, to my knowledge. CKT had some near the trail, but is now over the last time I was up there. Thanks for the plug, that book was written in 2005. Time is coming for a second edition.

If you were to do one loop of the CKT, which would it be , Jeff? I'm a fan of glens and streams rather than vistas...

I think the west loop. Trail often follows side hill above the streams, that sidehill has been eroded over the years. Regardless it is a nice loop. Yost Run is scenic, as is Eddy Lick Run.

Well nasty colds ruined this trip. We were all packed and ready to go, but made the (right) call to cancel the trip the morning we were going to leave. Did the Elk Scenic drive instead. Next time...
