"Park Ranger", subtitled "True Stories From a Ranger Career in America's National Parks" is the first of two books by the author on this topic, published in 2004. She is a the ultimate all-arounder, an EMT-Paramedic/RN, Firefighter, and Law Enforcement Ranger working primarily in National Parks, particularly the Grand Canyon. The book contains mostly accounts of medical rescues, along with some harrowing fire and law enforcement tales. The stories are told in a simple and straightforward style, with a little repetition of technical information. It touches very little on enjoyment of the outdoors here or the less dramatic aspects of ranger life, even less so than most other ranger books, but it's very interesting and reads quickly. Most people who dream about becoming rangers would probably think again after reading this one.
I'm tempted to pick up the sequel eventually.
