NJ forecasts are for up to 8" of rain, after what might have been over 3" last night. I'm glad to be on high ground.

We had a few inches of rain last night and now we could be in the bullseye for a lot more before Monday. I'm grateful that I don't live particularly close to the water.

We're on a tidal pond, just a few hundred yards from the Chesapeake Bay. My biggest worry is lack of power = lack of sump pump. We have a small generator, so I need to check it, the chainsaw, get plenty of diesel for the tractor, etc.

New track makes it look like it could follow Sandy's path from three years ago.

New track makes it look like it could follow Sandy's path from three years ago. That would be unfortunate, especially if it's a notch or two stronger when it gets here.

1,000-year rain event forecast for the Carolinas. Local reports I've seen from down there are calling it "life threatening flooding". Prayers for everyone down there, going to be a rough few days.

We have had a lot of rain and coastal and tidal flooding here in Norfolk. I can barely get out of my neighborhood at high tides now even with a lifted truck. Numerous cars stranded. We would have been screwed if Jaquien would have headed this was as first thought.

Stay dry! I unexpectedly got sent west through next weekend, but Mrs. big_load chose to stay home and keep working.

Our rain has stopped but Sunday is supposed to have the worst tides.

I hope things are getting better now, jcb.
We had the most perfect day yesterday. So perfect, that I had never heard of Joaquin, I still would had said that a hurricane had passed us by.
Unfortunately, I see parts of NC/SC are still getting pounded.
