Seems like bats are quite the source for coronaviruses of all flavors. That's a really good article you cited. It's pretty thorough. I think I originally read about the pangolin source in an article on a generic "news service" somewhere, but this article - to which I don't have access: only the "abstract" is available, at least to me - seems to be saying that, though bats are usually considered common coronavirus "reservoir hosts", they are unsure of the actual origin. Some evidence seems to point to the pangolin, since that animal has been found to have related strains ("sub-lineages") of the SARS-CoV-2 virus of the current outbreak. I'm not a scientist at all, so I'm just "cribbing" from what I've read here. The ongoing outbreak of viral pneumonia in China and beyond is associated with a novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-21. This outbreak has been tentatively associated with a seafood market in Wuhan, China, where the sale of wild animals may be the source of zoonotic infection2. Although bats are likely reservoir hosts for SARS-CoV-2, the identity of any intermediate host that might have facilitated transfer to humans is unknown. Here, we report the identification of SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses in Malayan pangolins (Manis javanica) seized in anti-smuggling operations in southern China. Metagenomic sequencing identified pangolin-associated coronaviruses that belong to two sub-lineages of SARS-CoV-2-related coronaviruses, including one that exhibits strong similarity to SARS-CoV-2 in the receptor-binding domain. The discovery of multiple lineages of pangolin coronavirus and their similarity to SARS-CoV-2 suggests that pangolins should be considered as possible hosts in the emergence of novel coronaviruses and should be removed from wet markets to prevent zoonotic transmission. Nature: "Identifying SARS-CoV-2 related coronaviruses in Malayan pangolins" ... and now I've effectively subverted the "joke thread" ... ARGH!!

Yes you have. Shame on you! Time to get back to bad jokes.
How many (insert the category of your preferred political opponents here) does it take to change a light bulb--with apologies to Rebecca D and handyman thread...
Answer: "That's not funny!"

Did you hear about the [insert your favorite nationality] man who locked his keys in his car? It took an hour to get his family out.

A personal hygiene tip:
With a cold beer in each hand you cannot touch your face. Stay safe.
On a side note, online retail liquor sales jumped 243% in March.

The Corona virus has accomplished something women have tried and failed for centuries -- the bars are closed, all sports are canceled, and the men are staying home.

Have you seen the movie "Constipation " ? No? Not surprising, it hasn't come out as yet.

Two guys are working on the median strip. One digs a hole and the other fills it in again. So I ask why, they reply that the guy that plants the trees is off today.

A man said to his wife one day, 'I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time?”
'The wife responded, 'Allow me to explain: God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupid so I would be attracted to you!

I know most here will love this one:
Donald Trump goes on a fact-finding visit to Israel. While on a tour of Jerusalem’s Wailing Wall he suffers a heart attack and dies.
The undertaker tells the American diplomats accompanying him, "You can have him shipped home for $50,000, or you can bury him here in the Holy Land for only $100.”
The American diplomats go into a corner to briefly discuss the dilemma. They return and say they want Donald Trump shipped home.
The undertaker is puzzled. “Why,” he asks, "would you spend $50,000 to ship the President home, when it would be truly wonderful to be buried here in the Holy Land — and it would cost so little!”
The diplomats reply, "Long ago a man died here, and was buried not far away. Three days later he rose from the dead." . . .
"We can’t take that chance."
