Just pulled a short backpacking trip into the Big Frog wilderness. See all pics here--- tipiwalter.smugmug.com/Backpack-2015-Trips-161/Big-Frog-Wilderness/Camping on the West Fork of Rough Creek. The new trail sign on Frog Mt---with the mailbox covered Trail Register. The weird stainless steel object nailed to a tree on Big Frog Mt. More redneck trash?? Passing thru Low Gap on the Big Frog Trail 64.

thanks for sharing your trip. this is a place that you hardly ever hear about. i had fun flipping through your photos.
I did the loop with Grassy Gap to Wolf Ridge and back on Big Frog a few Septembers ago. I got torn up by briers and brush, too. and I never did find that intersection with Big Creek coming from Grassy Gap. I back tracked a bit and went up a few different drainages looking for but all to no avail. I ended up pushing out to the Wolf Ridge Trail and spent a dry night near that beautiful tree you were posing with. I did see the upper Big Creek intersection the next day but only because there was a trail sign there... probably would have passed right by it.

Yes, the Big Creek jct with Grassy Gap trail is pretty easy to miss although there are 4 trails leaving the jct in all directions---Grassy Gap going northeast, Grassy Gap going southwest, Big Creek going north or Big Creek heading south.
Your "dry night near that beautiful tree" didn't have to be dry as Grassy Gap trail has several springs back a ways.
