Thanks for the kind welcomes, everyone! .. have seen one to many threads go up in flames over adverbs... We don't allow those here. Yeah, stick with adjective wars, please! ;-|

We all know that adverbs are a weakness, right? I didn't hike tiredly up the hill, I hiked up the hill panting and moaning.

Men in Kilts? As long as it's not a windy day, sure. Why not? Wait--isn't it BEST on a windy day? I did NaNo two years ago. I'm hoping to again this year--I'm possibly in about the right place to draft a new project. Have the idea tossing around in my head. I haven't checked out Scribophile. I do most of my writing and book talk on Goodreads. Sometimes I post backpacking pictures to Goodreads discussions, just to keep the aspects of my life mixed up.

(And yes, I have been known to correct grammar). What writing forums do you hang out on? Seriously? A double dangler.

I'm going straight to hell now. When you get there, say "Hello" to Mrs. Aden, my 8th grade English teacher. She was a real witch when it came to grammar. I'm sure she ended up in Hell

Wait--isn't it BEST on a windy day? Depends on the gentleman wearing the kilt, I suppose. Chris Evans could wear a kilt in a Hurricane and I'd watch him all day. I did NaNo two years ago. I'm hoping to again this year--I'm possibly in about the right place to draft a new project. Have the idea tossing around in my head. I haven't checked out Scribophile. I do most of my writing and book talk on Goodreads. Glad there's some fellow Nanoers around these parts. I have an already plotted novel, but of course I want to do something different for November. I would highly recommend Scrib. Barring discussions about adverbs, there are some great folks there. And a very lively and helpful forum. There's a group for Nano writers as well.

I very much dislike to be picky about the details BUT -
Doesn't it depend upon what the luckless lad is layered with in the nether regions?

Everybody knows that a preposition is a terrible thing to end a sentence with. (And adverbs should be used sparingly). Everybody also knows that double negatives are a no no.

And how brisk the breeze. I have a good friend in Scotland who says it is quite comfortable in the summer, but in the winter he looks a bit odd with a nice kilt over drab long johns.
Back to the thread, Hiking kilts were quite the rage a few years ago and I think the consensus was that long underwear were not a proper accessory and mosquitoes posed a formidable threat in the summer. But on the other hand the gal who just did the AT in 55 days and change, wore dresses as her goto outfit. At up to 42 miles a day I suspect skeeters were not her worry.

This thread may have given me the next Pismawallops PTA mystery...Death By Adverb.
I kid you not. Though it might become Death By Strunk & White. But that's the general idea...might be my NaNo project (I was going to start another series, but I'm having second thoughts).

You are definitely spending too much of your life inside. "Turn of the TV (vid screen) and play outside," my mom would say. :D
