Hey all, on the named dates I am nearby the grand canyon and planned 2 trips to do. First a long distance one, starting at the north kalibab trailhead and going all the way down and the bright angel trail up again. Its about some 22.5 miles with some 6000 feet up and 7000 feet down. Therefore I would love to find a well trained hiking buddy. I will start at midnight and be at the top of the south rim approx. between 9 - 11 am. Second the grandview trail. Easy to go I think. I am some 28 years old and coming from the alps in Europe and did such trips already. Would be nice to find someone

Welcome! I have some good news for you. The river is at 2480 ft elevation and the top of the North Kaibab trail is at 8250 ft, meaning your descent will only be 5770 ft. Then, the top of the Bright Angel trail is 6860 ft, meaning your ascent is only 4400 ft. Makes it seem like a more enjoyable hike. Since your plan involves hiking at night, I do hope you have a good headlamp. Too bad you will miss out on the scenery, but attempting this cross Canyon trek during the day, in Sept, would be foolish. I think it will take you more time, but what do I know. I certainly don't know your capacity to hike by headlamp. Best of luck to you.

Second the grandview trail. Easy to go I think. You didn't mentioned what time of the day you'd be hiking the Grandview Trail but please do not attempt it at night. It's considerably more difficult that the Bright Angel or Kaibab trails. There is a tremendous amount of exposure in places and one slip, trip or stumble could be fatal. Just something to think about.
