Anyone had any experience with Solomon hiking boots? I'm considering getting a pair as they seem to fit well, but I know nothing about their durability or toughness.
Any comments?
Thanks.

I saw a video by Sean "Shug" Emery recently ( Shug's Pack Load for 30ºF to 45ºF Wet, Windy & Cold Trips, about 2:06) in which he gave high praise for Solomon's Quest 4D (He mistakenly calls them the "Solomon Quad 4D"). So I hopped right over to REI and tried a pair. They were comfortable enough that I ordered a 2nd pair the next day. Of course, YMMV. Shoes and boots are notoriously personal. Report on durability/toughness to come.

Have some Salomon Nordic boots that have held up for years. If they fit go for it. If they are defective, you know in the first 100 miles.
Cheers!

Mine are the cheesiest synthetic old-stype (3-pin) boots I could find. I thought I would upgrade bindings, but I never did, and the boots have lasted much longer than I could reasonably expect. I've looked at Salomon hiking boots in the store, and didn't see anything that bothered me, but I didn't find any that really fit me, either.

I had a pair of SOlomon shoes I wore mostly to class, but lot of wandering about as well. Man, I loved those shoes. wore great, lasted forever. Only pair of shoes my old lab ever chewed up.

No experience with their boots since I have switched to trail runners, but for those I currently wear solomons. Very well built, very comfortable. Have stood up to good wear.

I wonder if those are the same ones I have. Mine are the SNS Greenland Backcountry version. Had them since 1998 and still use them on my Fischer E-99 Mountain Crowns!

Thanks for all the comments. I've gone ahead and ordered them and will give a report when I've had time to put them through the test.
