I like my Smartwools, but they get warm even when I get the lightest weight possible. Indoors, outdoors, summer, winter, etc. And my pups like to breathe in all four seasons. So I poked around a bit searching for polyester or nylon socks. I was in my not-quite-local REI a few days ago and picked up a pair of "WrightSock CoolMesh II" quarter socks. They have two layers (good for preventing blisters), and are a polyester blend, so they dry quicker. I've worn them exactly once but like them better than my lightweight Smartwools so far. They're not as warm as the Smartwools, even with the two layers. And they'd probably dry quicker after getting wet.
Has anyone else tried them, or have similar experience?

I wear those in the gym and like them a lot for that application. I prefer beefier socks on the trail.

I find the synthetics make my feet "burn" much worse than the warmth the wool provides. But I suspect it's a very individual thing! Sock your own sock?

Wool seems to regulate temperature and sweat much better for me, can't stand pure synthetic socks.
