In the early 80s a buddy and I drove my van to Yellowstone. We were cruising through the park and I stopped to let him pee, before you know it there were a half dozen cars lined up behind us and people with cameras and binocs. getting out asking WHAT? WHAT DO YOU SEE? mission aborted. ROFL! The dark side of the game!

The "stop and point" game was not the funniest game we played, only the most common among park employees.
My favorite was the one that my roommate and I came up with the season we worked at Mammoth Hot Springs. I drove him a few miles east to the overlook of Undine Falls. Undine Falls is a beautiful falls with a 60 foot drop, followed by a 40-foot drop that one time (I believe) made the cover of National Geographic Magazine. I roared into that parking lot, and ran to the overlook with my zoom lens on my camera and started staring at the falls. My roommate was right behind me with my binoculars. We were completely oblivious to others there. Finally, after 2 or 3 minutes, someone bit. He asked what we were looking at. "Surprised" to see there were others there, we asked if the kayakers had come over the falls yet. People in that area looked at the falls and told us that you couldn't kayak over the falls. We told them that we worked at Mammoth in the park, and had kayaked over it last week. Our friends, not to be outdone, were to go over it today at 1PM. It was 1:05, so have we missed them? They assured us that no one had come over the falls in the last 15 minutes. My roommate and I discussed it among ourselves "reminding" ourselves that we had delays due to equipment and what-not. So, we left the parking lot to see if our friends needed help getting launched. But, of course, we went back to our dorm and had a good laugh, our last image was of about 15 pairs of binoculars being aimed at the falls.

This summer I was in Yosemite, have a friend who works for the NPS office that administers YNP and visited him in his office. They have a cork board of some all-time funny letters they've received, in the spirit of this thread. This one was my daughter's favorite: Thinking of changing my screen name to hootersquatters...

Lol... I have a number of Danish colleagues I've worked with on the ice for years now. Never once have I heard the term "hootersquatters," lol. It might be real, I dunno--America doesn't have a monopoly on imbeciles--but it's a funny read either way. Thanks for posting that JR.
