As much as I love backpacking I HATE being wet. I'll deal with it and suffer through it because it's worth it in the end but I do despise being wet for hours at a time. When I first started backpacking I tried Frogg Toggs and had them fail. This year I had a waterproof jack from Columbia and for the most part kept me dry but we were really hoofing that day and worked up a sweat and everytime I took my hand off the trekking poles water (I'm assuming sweat) would run down my arm or back down my sleeve to my chest. At that point I wasn't real sure why I was even wearing a rain jacket. The conclusion I came to was that it kept me warm.
I had never heard of the Snugpak Poncho and after googling it, it seems worthy of consideration. Another reason why I enjoy this forum. Learning something new.
