rebeccad, how's your trip going? Where are you now and what have you seen (assuming you have a few moments inbetween adventures)?

No feet; just shoes on the trail. We hiked through heavy rain to the Lake of the Clouds Hut (in the White Mountains, NH). When the rain finally ended, a bunch of hikers put their wet shoes and clothing out to dry.

No trail- just feet overlooking Frenchman's Bay and Acadia Nat'l Park on the horizon.

I've been up to Lake Of The Clouds Hut a couple times, including in winter. Great spot! It's funny to see all the old-school, heavy leather boots... I wonder if that's a tradition-bound New England thing? You just don't see that much heavy cowhide out West anymore.

A couple of lovely shots of our feet during a rather damp hike in the badlands of Theo. Roosevelt Nat. Park a few weeks ago. That gumbo was nasty--slicker than snot, and stuck to the boots until they weighed more than steel-shank mountaineering boots.

And then there was the spot where I got to see how big a bison's foot is. My foot is not dainty. I wear a women's 9.5. That hoof print was nearly as long as my foot.

My foot on the Routeburn track. Midway through a nearly 17-mile hike from the east TH to the summit and back in one day. That is the longest hike I’ve done in a lot of years, and I was pleased that I could, and didn’t suffer excessively. And I can still walk today, sort of.

There is a few of us around when things get tough [grins]. I do like my fabric and plastic trail and runners but I love my German Lowa full leather, no GTX, Banffs. The open trail was muddy, the tread often iced up and the shadows iced crusted snow. - BTW, the boots needed some TLC after this trip. Can't throw them in the washer like I do my Salomon X-Ultras. Hmmm, looks like I've never taken a boot shot. I seem to have taken one since my comment above...this was from January of last year:
