Trilliums from yesterday: The two things I miss most living "out West", Autumn leaves and the Spring woodland flower bloom.

Spring is "Galaxy Season" for astrophotographers. In the northern hemisphere we are looking directly opposite of the plane of the Milky Way and out into deep space.... M51, the 'Whirlpool Galaxy" and distant galaxy cluster Zwickey 6057. The Whirlpool is a paltry 30 million light years away, Zwickey 6057 is 2.3 BILLION light years away... NGC 4565 has always fascinated me with it's perfect edge on presentation. I was finally able to image it over two nights.

I really like this photo: The James River, Richmond (Virginia), as seen at sunset, yesterday:

Never made it to North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve per earlier California thread because instead did a second road trip to southern Carrizo Plain National Monument areas that were quite productive. Will be processing images for weeks. Many strong images for when I begin 8k display exhibitions.

The above downsized for web image was captured about 4 miles north of the Elkhorn Grade Road junction with Elkhorn Road at 6pm on April 21, 2023. Original 6000x4000 pixels from 15 focus stack blended shots. Foreground orange hued fiddleneck very as orange as one ever sees indicating they had just flowered before usual sun bleaching. Prominent color splotches on peak 3505 are hillside daisies, lacy phacelia, Parry's mallow, desert candles. Was spectacular standing in front of such vibrant natural colors.
The below is from my first trip south on April 17, 2023. Within an obscure zone of the monument no others have seen for years. Downsized herein for web with the original a 2 column stitch blend of 9900x4000 pixels from 28 focus stack blended shots.

And below is a 100% pixels 1080p sized crop from the above image's upper left corner showing the true detail. And yes the bright orange areas are California poppies. Magenta hues are parry's mallow. Whitish green hues are desert pincushions and blue are perennial species, silver bush lupines.

A couple of my favorites from a recent trip Sometimes I am just dumbfounded (and delighted) at natural shapes. Those are great!

Flowers are just beginning to appear around here. This is from mid-May a few years ago:
