The road to Lake Sabrina has been open since opening day (fishing.) Sabrina is low and free of ice.
The North Lake road has been closed so we went prepared with waterproof boots and yax trax. It turns out that there is no snow...just closed due to heavy equipment fixing sections of the road. With only a small pile of snow near the campground, the road is clear to the trailhead. Wet on the trails. North Lake is flooded around its perimeter.
The South Lake road is almost open to the end. The backpacker's parking is completely clear but there are a few snow obstacles across the road before that. The over flow (small parking area) is open and there is a short walk over snow, then snow that can be avoided, to get to the trailhead. South Lake is low and still has ice on it.

Sonora Pass is open. Piece by piece it comes apart. Recent pictures 6/13/2017 (maybe)Might be a bit of an adventure if you walk along the ridge for next few weeks. Much better in the fall.

We went up Convict Canyon on the 14th of June. Hiked to the creek crossing. The water is lower due to last weekend's cool down, but we didn't cross the snow bridge. Did have to cross a couple of snow fields. The trail around the lake was like a freeway, but we didn't see anyone on the canyon trail til about 2:30pm.
203 is being plowed towards Minaret Summit. The lakes basin is still closed.

A step forward, a couple back.El Portal Road in Yosemite and Highway 140 gate. " Due to the severity of the damage, which stretches about a 1,000 feet, they have extended the shutdown through the weekend with no estimated reopening date being given."

With Sonora Pass now open, am leaning toward a several day road trip over Sonora Pass then down south into the Owens. Likely spend a day or two up in the bristlecones since the road is now open to the Patriarch Grove and also some telephoto shots across the valley towards the full length of the snowy Sierra Nevada range.
Monday walked out of my first backpack this year of 2017, a 7 day trip up to Styx Pass to work the big water in Cherry Creek, a glaciated granite wonderland. Both the below are focus stack blended single frame 6000x4000 pixel images downsized below for web display at 16%.

Highway 120 is open from Hwy 395 to the east entrance gate of Yosemite. The Mammoth Lakes Basin road just opened.
North Lake Road is closed (it was open,) Pine Creek Road, past Rovana is closed and Onion Valley Road is closed. (Pine Creek is close to home, but even closer North Round Valley Road is closed between Pine Creek Road and Birchim and Lower Rock Creek Road is closed between Pine Creek and Birchim.)
edit: Pine Creek Road and Onion Valley Road have reopened. Subject to road closure if flooding occurs...

The Rock Creek Road is open to Mosquito Flat. Luckily no one knew early. I didn't know...I was going to walk up the road from the pack station. Parked in the front row!
By the way, the Onion Valley road is open up to about 1/2 mile of the campground.

Great did not expect Mosquito Flat to open. Looking forward to spending one morning up there working some lower lake images. Will start to pile up gear later today for the road trip that is looking like a Monday morning start now. Looking at all the snow last week on my backpack and your nice image from Long Lake, I think I'm going to try and fit my sweet Scott The Ski boards in the Forester so will need to see if my old Alpine Trekkers fit the bindings and my skins adhesive is still sticky. Also mule ears and arrow-leaf wyethia ought to be coloring your foothills with usual yellow about now. Will send a PM with my cellphone #.

Dave...that is a panorama photo from my phone. Ha...have to trick the phone to get an acceptable exposure but the sky color is off. The sky was the typical darker than cobalt combined with the brightness of the snow. Of course, the day after, we had some beautiful clouds in the sky.
Anyway, the trail is snow covered beyond Long Lake...

The first time we did Bishop Pass as a day trip, the trail was covered with snow.
Beautiful trip and the thrill that we found our way back. All foot prints were gone.
Hard snow and kicking steps in between the rocks on way up to Bishop.
I recommend it this time of year (or sometimes earlier) as a day trip for all the snow melt and not having to worry about staying on a trail.

Too late for my permit, starting today, for Waterwheel Falls...

The broken bridges at McGee Creek and Conness Creek (Glen Aulin) had now drifted downstream. Snowmelt has slowed, but will pick up as temps heat up
