Planning and packing is definitely part of the fun of a trip, for me at least. Yes, when not rushed!

Where are you going, Deborah? Eagle Nest Wilderness. Hike in, base camp, day hike for a few days, then back out.

.... I will be finishing food prep for my Aug 1 BP trip. Hey! Rumi and I are leaving on that date for a week long BP trip too! I've got the maps done, but I gotta get my butt in gear with food planning.

So I had an exhausting, beautiful 300 mile drive to take my husband for an MRI of his knee with the baby along. She was great in the car, sang and watch the redwoods roll past. Today, home and farmers market soon.

This morning brings sunshine, and no more rain. Mid 80's for most of next week. Echo, how is your son doing? I remember you were telling us he was a student at UCSC.

Paula53, thanks for asking. He is doing good, but differently than planned. He finished freshman year at Santa Cruz, but as he was packing for sophomore year, found out they were expecting a baby, so now he has a wonderful 15 month old daughter and two jobs and school is going nowhere but he says he hasn't given up on it yet. Both he, and his older brother ( my two are only a year apart) are living here I my town and that is right up on the Oregon/CA border so I'm not sure he will go back to Santa Cruz, but he is working as a teachers assistant and loves the students and wants to teach math.

It is hot (92), humid (55), with a little breeze. I worked on the house a little this morning before it just got too hot. I am ready for fall, or at least a trip to the Rockies. In the meantime, I am listening to the radio broadcast of the Kansas City Royals vs Toronto, something that I have done for my entire adult life, whether they were good or bad.

Good morning everyone. I had to skip the gym this morning due to a nagging shoulder injury but hopefully I'm back to full speed in a day for so. They're calling for three days with little to no rain chance, so I'm pretty excited about that. I hope you all have a wonderful day wherever you happen to be.

Just picked up new luggage locks for tomorrow. Sigh. Gotta start writing that stuff down, or start being less obscure with the combo.

Good Morning. Almost nine and I'm crawling out of bed. Odd to be able to sleep in so late.
I like your points Calidream, and sometimes have added a list of three good things to the daily photograph I post on 365 Project. But when I'm really not feeling happy, the solution for me isn't usually found in doing that. There can be a ton of reasons I should be happy, and sometimes I still won't be. Then there is no quick cure, but the closest thing I've found is to find a chance to do something physical and mental that helps someone else. For me, as a teacher and grandma, that often involves kids, but not always. If I teach an art lesson, or take them for a walk, even just to the track, or weed the community garden, or walk dogs as a volunteer at the shelter, then I get so involved I stop feeling unhappy.
We are leaving for Wyoming in about a week and a half. A family reunion of my husband's siblings at his parents hometown, but my kids are staying here, working. I miss the days when they would be filling the family van with their excitement or even the days they'd be so angry they'd sit as far away from their parents as they could get, and refuse to talk because we were making them go somewhere we wanted to. The early 20's are not years I saw my parents much either, but I miss the child years with them

Good morning. Must be still on Alaska time, as I can't sleep.
So, I go off on a trip for me, kayaking, and end up talking for 5 days to a person who used to have the same thing M has and was cured by a Dr in Miami. He used to be a triathlon competitor, then had 9 yrs of his life taken by this ailment. Now he is back up to marathons. Also had a Dr on the trip who gave me some encouragement. Some things just fall into place. I am hoping the 6 month wait list to see this Miami Dr has not expanded much longer.

Good morning. Just back from Texas two days ago. Had a great visit with my 99 1/2 year young mom. Good to be back to a normal schedule.

Just picked up new luggage locks for tomorrow. Sigh. Gotta start writing that stuff down, or start being less obscure with the combo. I take a paint marker and write a letter on the lock. Each letter is a different combination I use. I am hoping it is just a reminder of which lock uses which combination. No one else could decipher much from the code, such as B might mean 1170, not my birthday.
