My puppy's all grown up... 2 years old next month. He's kept me sane this year, loves watching TV with me. Favorites are nature shows and baseball. :D My dog rarely watches TV, but when she does, it's either dog obstacle racing, Puppy Bowl, or My Cat From Hell. She barks at Wheel of Fortune (we think it's the "clicker" when the wheel spins). Then, a few weeks ago, my son was projecting his Minecraft game on TV (if you're not familiar, it's basically building things with electronic legos). She watched that (intently) for an entire hour! We had two cats who would watch an entire tennis match side-by-side, their synchronized heads going back and forth the entire time.

That’s fun. My husband’s parents were given a German short haired pointer, the sweetest dog, except she loved chasing chickens and her original owners lived in the country with lots of chickens on neighboring farms. After they got her, she was perfect for them and got my MIL out walking regularly but never showed interest in the tv until they had had her for about 5 years and a show suddenly had chickens on it. She was into that room with her nose to the glass and her hackles up before the first “bock bock” was completed.
It’s supposed to rain all day here a nice soaking, “beneficial rain”.
Good morning.

Well, let’s move this along into October.
Good Morning!
Have a nice day, even if it is a Monday. Here we are on day 2 of “dense fog warning.” It reminds me of that old horror movie. That is fitting for October.

Good morning! Heading back towards CA today. We won’t get there until tomorrow, but starting back for another 3 weeks at home…

Good morning. We woke up to the first Frost of the season, I walked the girl down to her bus stop and it was kind of lovely to see all the frosted green leaves and apples but the sun is quickly melting it all by now. She is as interested in Minecraft as walkswithblackflies dog. Just before school started we did a painting together of Minecraft undersea area and another of a Mesa area in a modified game called “dogcraft”

Good evening. I’ve had 4 vaccines in the last 2 days, preparing for Nepal. I feel like a pin cushion, and one with a lot of aches and pains, at that. Not precisely complaining, though. I mean, aches and pains for a day or two to avoid some pretty serious diseases? I’m in.

Good morning. Vacation week for me. I have been doing a lot of laundry, some hiking and many errands. Today I go to Poplar Forest Thomas Jefferson's other home in central Virginia.

Riding my bike home on Tuesday afternoon, my chain broke. Thankfully, I was near the height of land, and after a little walking, was able to coast downhill to within a couple miles of home where my wife picked me up. Given the backups of the bike shop service departments, I was expecting to buy a chain and install it myself. But I timed things perfectly, and within 1/2 hour of arriving, they were able to install the chain, fix my brake handle (broken a couple weeks ago), straighten my crankcase, and even tune up the gear shifting! All things I expected would have to wait until the off-season. Woo hoo!!!

walkswithblackflies, glad you got quick service, and that you were near the top of the hill! I actually carry a chain tool and a couple of extra links (note to self: be sure to replace those links, after losing repair kit to a thief) just in case that happens somewhere far from home I recovered as quickly as you’d expect from the vaccines, and yesterday did a fantastic 8-mile hike with a friend.

Another Saturday morning, toasty warm by the woodstove, planning on going to see Dune later today.
I finally got through to UCSF yesterday and the new patient coordinator gave me her direct line and fax number. They were really friendly and called me back three times to verify details but the general message was infuriating. Yes, they had gotten my Dr.’s referral but she filled it out in cursive and none of them could read it so they haven’t called her or me. AND they got it September 15. Then they were moving and their phone service was disrupted which is why I couldn’t get through until yesterday.
We have rain, rain and more rain. 3 inches twice a week apart, then five more the last two days and now another 10 to 15 predicted in the next week. It’s starting to really green up around here and the rivers are responding. The Smith at my favorite spot, Jedediah Smith redwoods, had 11 feet and rose to 18 which is far below the 33 foot flood stage, but still nice to see.
Have a great day wherever you may be.

Good morning, Yep, windy and rainy and I love it. First thing in the morning, I poured my coffee, grabbed a book and threw open the door just to stand and soak in the sound of the storm and breath the moisture of the day. It’s perfection.
My oldest took his family up to the hills for a five day hunting trip, so he is also embracing the storm, or at least refusing to be deterred by it.
This is the third Dune movie I have seen. It was more fun to listen to my husband afterwards tearing up every detail of performance and set and direction. I just enjoyed watching it, but he loved that book since he was about 10, and as a theater and music teacher can’t actually watch a movie just for the story.

Good Morning! It's a wonderful 55º this morning, and the skies are blue. Makes me want to be camping on an island on the Gulf.
