When I lived in Wyoming I was convinced that the first day of spring came mid winter, and it always puzzled me why groundhogs day and the start of spring were both in solidly snow months. Then after living here, where it is always green and spring flowers start in February, I think winter goes way longer than the real “winter months”. This weekend was perfect for the start of spring, and my pear and apple trees suddenly look like there is popcorn glued to each branch, although when I sang a kids song about”popcorn popping o the apricot tree” my pragmatic girl announced “that isn’t an apricot tree and it doesn’t look like popcorn. it looks like pear flowers, and it doesn’t smell sweet when you make popcorn, it smells salty.” So who is right?

I rode my bike to work for the first time this year! A cold morning with a temp around 30F, and I chose the wrong long-sleeve (new, not yet tested while riding). Brrr! But the afternoon ride should be splendid.

My choice of long-sleeve shirt was MUCH better this morning!

Hey, y’all, have a good evening! I’m just burning some data to check in from the road. Have been in the CA deserts for several days, heading to Flagstaff in a couple more. I was very excited to meet Second Son’s girlfriend at last—blasted COVID!

27F this morning. A tad chilly for my morning bike commute. Brrr! Penance for the 65F and sunny this afternoon.

Good Morning. Yesterday my oldest son turned 28 and I think I finally got him a birthday present that he liked and was surprised by. I found a Wyoming artist Today it is a Holiday for the State Workers like my husband but not for the girl’s school, so grandpa made car repair appointments but needs me to pick him up, and later drive him back. I’m curious if her teacher will mention Caesar Chavez today. 90* isn’t at all appealing to me, rebeccad but it used to be. Another example of the wimpification of me.

echo, those stunning art works look a lot like those produced by Wyland, who to me is a master of sea and nautical art. I was surprised to learn that he was born in this area. If he was still here, I'd be taking art lessons from him.

We went from Palm Springs to 6500’ in the AZ mountains yesterday. That made a nice shift. Next two nights we’ll shiver in Flagstaff, then it’s down to the river. Um, make that The River. 😁

Good Morning.
Today is the granddaughters last zoom class before a week of spring break, and two other “moms” and I have spent two days battling the school district to reach a compromise. They had announced that the first graders were going to be transferred to a third teacher, third school in the district for after spring break. Finally we are going to still lose the class they are in, but the kids will get a screen and zoom camera added in to their real school, in with the teacher they started the year with and lost in November. The kids in there were in their kindergarten and will mostly be in their second grade so it’s still an upheaval and won’t continue them in their current lessons, but not a total re-do
Ready to breath and as the last two days have been in the 80’s and they are ending this class, I tossed out her homework and went to the beach both afternoons.

It's not a good morning. I'm absolutely heartbroken. A local area that is a geologic wonderland has just been bought by an open-pit gravel mining company. One that has at least 5 other mines in the area that not only destroyed other unique geological features (cave systems, ancient waterfalls, spires/pinnacles, etc.), but are now vacant useless eyesores. But in their proposal, they boast how this one will be "reclaimed by nature". This place could be a State Park anywhere else, but now it will be destroyed. For gravel. Instead of outcry, the local rednecks are flooding social media with support for the project. Not just for the pragmatic reason (gravel is useful), but because it will upset the "liberals" and "treehuggers" who enjoy the area. The Town politicians are already bought and paid for. Just when I think my view of humanity cannot sink any lower, it always finds a way. The local legacy of the mining company:

I tossed out her homework and went to the beach both afternoons. Sounds like a needed bit of time off from the craziness of her school stuff. You are a good grand"mom". Just when I think my view of humanity cannot sink any lower, it always finds a way. I keep hoping the downward spiral will end, but no. Your post makes me sad. I get my second dose of Pfizer today -- hoping that I don't have side effects, but taking tomorrow off work just in case. I still can see the bruise from my first shot - 3 weeks ago! Hope y'all have a good day.

Good Morning I hope everyone had some fun this weekend. I got outside, I was careless about it and now I’m just beautiful because of it, but also, I’m happier for it. Spring break ended and the third new beginning of Daisy’s first grade year starts with a zoom at 1:00. When I told her she no longer has five 8:30 zoom classes, but three, at 1:00 Monday, 1:15 Wednesday and 8:30 Friday, but a lot of independent online work, her only reaction was “I was just used to Miss Gibson and we were going to make friends, now I’ll never see her again.” And no lie, I can’t deny that when her second trimester teacher lives in San Diego and we live on the Oregon border. Laugh a bit, it’s ok
