Good morning. I took Daisy shopping for Valentine’s to mail to her classmates. There were St Patrick’s decorations and that hit me hard. Our last day in an actual school was March 13, a Friday. The St Patrick’s day party things just sat in empty classrooms for a long time. Now we have a four day weekend starting after zoom today, it’s sad because there isn’t much difference between school and no school days, especially because we have a 10 day rainy day prediction.
I’m a nice ish person but I’m feeling decidedly cabin fevered and thinking I might need to escape a day at least before my son and his daughter see the not nice side of me.
Goodness I hope you are feeling less grey spirited than I sound. I better get up on my feet and do something.

It's cold here in Texas, too. And you might have seen the deadly pile-up on Interstate 35 in Fort Worth on the news today. The videos are absolutely horrifying. The ice has been spotty across north Texas, and our area did not have slippery roads this morning. Grateful for that, since I have had pets to visit and care for. But we have more coming -- Monday's high is forecasted right now at 12, with a low of 0. Plus precip Monday and Wednesday. We are adequately equipped from a clothing standpoint, but I worry about our plumbing and frozen pipes -- the cabinet doors to all exterior-wall plumbing are open for the duration of the cold snap!
My husband had his first vaccine dose a couple of weeks ago. I'm on the list, but with no pre-existing conditions and not being 65, I'm gonna have to wait awhile, I think.
We have backcountry campsite permits for Big Bend at the end of April. Something to look forward to!

Good morning! I was rainy here yesterday, while the rest of the country got snow, but today the sun is out. Of course it is, since today I don’t have time for a long walk :D. I’ll have to be efficient to get in a shorter walk, so maybe the extra pressure will help me keep focused.

echo, your blues photo is so stunning that I can't find words for it, other than that the colors, reflections and blended rocks remind me of precious jewels.

Thank you autumnmist I’m not exactly sure what I did here. I commented on the random photo thread, then hit add image to post, and chose these three. Later I saw notification that my post here had been liked and was startled that it was the pictures. The comment is there, the pictures here and I’m befuddled. The three were taken within 20 minutes. I said, as I took the blue one, “well the sky is too obscured to get much of a sunset.” Anywho it’s a Friday off here and I’m ignoring politics when I say it’s a great day. Have a nice weekend.

Good afternoon! It is up-north cold here in Texas -- I'm sure you've seen our plight on the national news. Many people without electricity, and now some without clean water as the water districts lose power and their water is compromised. We are on a "boil water" notice, but fortunately have had power without any outage. I'm keeping in touch with friends who are suffering from rolling outages and, even worse, long-term outages. Currently hosting a young woman and her puppy (her boyfriend works with my husband and is out of town). Her power has been off since 3 a.m. Monday and her house is in the 30s. Too cold for hanging out. Keeping our thermostat low and bundling up to help conserve power in the hopes it will help reduce stress on the power grid. Although at this point, it seems pretty broken. I, too, enjoyed your photos, echo -- no matter how they got there!

Good morning. We are waiting a winter storm here in the mid Virginia area. It has been a snowy winter so far in this area.

Good morning. We had a touch of frost this morning, but it’s up to 36 and climbing fast as the sun is out, and it will hit 61 by afternoon. So no winter woes here.

Nine in the morning, still Frost in the shade but a yard full of robins and flickers. The girl is doing math via zoom, and the weather is 39 and heading up to a high of 52 it says. They start class with a morning weather report at 8:30.
I finally got a call from the Nuclear Medicine center in Portland. Over a year trying to get accepted and now, three weeks from today, I get to go in for a type of brain scan with a pretty low accuracy. I’m not quite sure about going nearly 400 miles for a scan with really limited results, but I want to be on their list as a patient to get the referral to the Parkinson’s neurologist accepted. Normally they don’t take clients from more than 100 miles away.

Wow, echo. What a journey you've had -- and now another 400 miles for a test. I guess any information you can get, and certainly any connections you can make, will be good. It's 25° here now with a wind chill of 14, but tomorrow we should be above freezing for the first time in quite a while. And the sun comes out Friday, so something to look forward to. During this entire power crisis, the entreaties have been for people to conserve energy and lower their thermostats to 68°, which is typically our high number during the winter. I lowered to 66. We have a client who is out of town and we are caring for her 3 dogs. Their house, while they are enjoying Florida beaches, has been 75°. For their dogs! I would be flat on the floor so as not to generate even a smidge of body heat at those temps. But I do know people who feel that way about 68 ...

I took Friday off of work, and went skiing all day. Saturday I snowshoed in knee to hip-deep snow (link... bpbasecamp.freeforums.net/post/288267/thread). Sunday I skied all day. Yesterday I did 160 burpees during the SU/Duke game. I'm tired.

Did a fantastic hike on Mt. Tamalpais on Sunday. Since that 7.25 miles wasn’t enough, we went to the beach and did another mile and a quarter, then strolled around the campground for a leg-stretcher. That got me tired enough to sleep, after my companion’s husband brought out and grilled some burgers for us, before leaving her with me and going back home to their kids.
I have good friends.

Good friends, attract good Friends rebeccadLife is getting a bit busier for me. I started Physical Therapy yesterday and just in time for them to have a pool available so I am happy about that. Sore, but happy. And today I have lab work and an ultra sound With a trip to Portland and a brain scan on March 10. After being on lists and wait 6 month schedules, suddenly they are paying attention and “I’m not dead yet.” The girl is having a sleepover Friday. The one best friend she chose a year ago as the one kid she could see all pandemic. It isn’t approved exactly, but I couldn’t tell a six year old, with no siblings, she could never be around other kids. Mental health counts too. So she has been asking for two weeks, “aren’t you excited for my sleepover, Grandma.”

echo, I’m glad something is moving forward for you! I have been volunteering at the local vaccine clinic, which also means I’ve been vaccinated. I got the second dose this afternoon. So far, no issues, arm is barely even sore (but I went out and finished digging the garden on the grounds that if it was going to be sore anyway, I might as well do it thoroughly).
